Major Project_4

After deciding I wanted to draw my characters in the style of anime, I thought it would be a good idea to test this idea out and see if I had any major problems.

The character I drew was based on a nightmare I had in which I met a girl who looked really sweet and innocent but had murderous intentions. She ended up killing people and turning them into pieces of clothing.

In terms of physical appearance, I remembered what the girl in my dreams looked like so I tried to make the drawing as close as possible. After doing more research, I realised that colour is a very important aspect of a characters personality when it comes to anime. Because of this, in the future the characters I design will have aspects of their personalities show through the colours used on them. I have also decided to not draw characters from dreams but design characters based on the dream in its entirety. In relation to this specific character, I drew her in this pose because innocent looking anime characters are usually drawn in a similar way; it makes them look shy and timid. I placed a bloody pair of scissors behind her back as the girl in my nightmare turned her victims into pieces of clothing and scissors are usually used during the process of cloth making. In relation to her face, I gave her an overly friendly smile as I thought it made her look sweet but creepy; I also put bandages on her face due to the fact that the nightmare ended with me aggressively protecting my sister.

While doing this, I found drawing the pose, clothes and legs easy however, I had a lot of trouble with the face and hair. I decided to work on this.
