In ‘The Nightmare’, one thing that really interested me was the use of figures to represent an individuals night terror; I really liked it and decided that I wanted to give it a try. My main idea is to create character designs based on my nightmares.
I have already started compiling nightmares that I’ve had in the past and recent nightmares I’ve had so I have quite a lot of concepts to base my characters on.
Just to get the ball rolling, I started creating rough sketches based on some nightmares I’ve had
All of these drawings were inspired by an artist called Nelnal
I really liked his use of colours and otherworldly elements to get his concept across which is why I drew my characters like this.
I enjoyed creating these however, I wanted to see what they would look like in colour so I drew them digitally
After doing this, I decided that I would like to work digitally during this project. I enjoyed creating these images and thought I could do a lot with the medium I used. My only problem was with the actual characters, I wasn’t 100% sure on what kind of characters I wanted to design. I decided to look into character design more.
